US Federal Tax Manager/Senior Manager - Bermuda (Caribbean)

Job Details: Consisting of seven main islands, Bermuda is a UK overseas territory in the Atlantic Ocean. Visitors are attracted to its beaches with pink sands and turquoise seas, beautiful colonial buildings and a subtropical climate. Bermuda boasts a mix of British charm and island soul - all in an unspoilt Caribbean island. As an offshore hub, Bermuda has a thriving financial services industry with numerous banking, insurance and private equity firms having offices on the island.
ProGlobal has just been commissioned by its Big 4 client in Bermuda to recruit a US Federal Tax Manager, to join the rapidly expanding team of Bermuda-based professionals providing US tax services to clients in the financial services industry. The practice currently serves a variety of entities from the (re)insurance and investment fund industry, including SEC registrants, hedge and private equity funds, captive insurance arrangements, and ILS structures. The successful candidate will be required to:
- Manage and coordinate the delivery of U.S. tax services, including review of U.S. federal and state tax returns
- Advise clients on complex tax issues, transactions, and structuring
- Develop and maintain deep technical knowledge in areas of relevance to clients, including the U.S. domestic and international tax provisions applicable to insurance companies and/or investment funds
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and assist in the development of new business
- Train, manage, mentor and develop tax staff
Qualifications required:
- Five years of relevant experience, including a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental U.S. tax concepts relevant to corporations and/or partnerships
- Previous experience as a Tax Manager with a public accounting firm
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the U.S. technical concepts relevant to the taxation of insurance companies, investment partnerships, and/or multinationals and foreign entities (e.g. CFC, PFIC, FATCA, etc.)
- Licensed CPA
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills and the ability to articulate complex information
- Experience mentoring and counseling staff level team members
